Welcome to Guided Parenting Support - GPS®

I’m Kate Garzón, M.Ed, and I’m a “GPS” for the parents of toddlers through teens! I’m a parent educator and parenting coach who empowers parents to solve frustrating behaviors - and raise great humans - by focusing on relationship-building, understanding development, and skill-building. I help loving parents who are tired of feeling like their efforts to “do it right” aren’t being reflected in their family lives. Through customized, 1:1 coaching, we use my four-part parenting roadmap to create connected and collaborative families where every member is a valued contributor.

“She gave us techniques, skills, and ultimately the confidence to be the parents we want to be.”

“We sought Kate's help during my child's transition to a new school. Kate helped us understand our son and see life through his eyes. With compassion and love, she helped us to see his behavior not as something 'problematic' but rather 'situational.'  She gave us techniques, skills and ultimately the confidence to be the parents we want to be. Our family is stronger and happier after working with Kate; she is truly a special person!”

-Parents of a 7 year old

“Kate gave us a place to vent, helped us see ourselves and identify what needed to change, and sometimes just sat with us while we cried.”

"Hire Kate. We spent the better part of two years putting in the work with our son who struggled through toddlerhood with speech delays, sensory issues, and several transitions including moving, starting school, and the addition of our daughter at the beginning of this timeline. We worked with some incredible speech and occupational therapists who helped our son tremendously, but the behavioral concerns continued and impacted our son at school and our family at home. While we never quite fit into any boxes or diagnoses to qualify for more help, he did eventually grew out of some behaviors and school went from being the biggest challenge to the best part of the day.

At home, however, we were still struggling and while we had worked so hard to help our son, we had done little to support ourselves and our family—not for lack of trying. We had read all the books, followed all the social media experts and really did our best to respectfully parent our children, but the strategies were just not connecting with our son and now two year old daughter who was now joining in on the circus. Kate’s name came up in an online mom group and I reached out to her. My husband and I started working with Kate this past fall and it was the best thing we did for our family. She gave us a place to vent, helped us see ourselves and identify what needed to change, gave us skills and strategies, and sometimes she just sat with us while we cried. Being a parent is so unbelievably hard. Being a parent to two very strong willed kids who march to the beat of their own drum is amazing and also the hardest thing we’ve ever done. Kate helped bring back the fun in raising these two incredible people which helps get through the hard parts more than you can imagine. We are so grateful to Kate to be another grown up looking out for our kids, and perhaps more importantly looking out for us as we continue on this journey.”

-Parents of 2 and 4 year olds

“Deciding to hire Kate as a parenting coach is one of the best decisions I've made.

“With my two boys, I was a ‘know it all’ mom and didn't think a coach could help me. Once my daughter reached her preteen years, I was struggling. I felt like our relationship was deteriorating and it scared me that if she was only 12 how much worse could our relationship get as she went further into her teens? That was the deciding factor to reach out to Kate.

From our first session not only did Kate help me understand what was going in in my daughter’s developmental stage but she also validated my concerns, eased my fears and didn't shame me for the part I played in the problem with communication.  The best thing is that Kate isn't all talk - she gave me small, actionable steps that I could put into practice immediately and they instantly made a difference in the interactions I was having with my daughter. The frequency and intensity of arguments have diminished and I will continue to work with Kate as there is still more for me to learn.”

-Parent of 20, 19, and 13 year olds
